It has been an awesome few days at the Brown house. Dyllon had his Sacrament Farewell on Sunday. He is just a great speaker. You can tell already how much he had grown in the gospel in just the short time since he received his call to serve in the Knoxville Tennessee Mission.
Last night, Bishop Jarret and the Stake Presidency came to the house and set Dyllon apart as a full time Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was an emotional time for the mom, but I was able to pull it together.
We had a good last night as a family just talking and viewing the last episode of the District 2. (missionary training video). Dyllon left his siblings with great pieces of advice. Take school seriously, Choose good friends, Stay close to the gospel and listen to your parents. I hope that they heed the advice.
This morning Dyllon was up bright and early at 6:00 a.m. Already trained to get up early for the MTC. He got ready for the day and the rest of the family slowly came to life.
We went and had breakfast at Denny's. Dyllon had the T-Bone steak for breakfast. I guess that he was concerned that he might not eat until dinner time.
We came home and Brandon and Matt stopped by to spend sometime with Dyllon before he left. I am grateful that they did, because we spent the last hour before we had to leave laughing. Frank Catmull also stopped by and brought Dyllon a gift of a oil vial that he had hand made for him. Thanks Frank, it meant a lot to him and me.
We packed Dyllon's Bags in the car around 11:00 a.m. and left for the MTC. We made a last stop by to Harmon's to pick up a mirror and a few snacks for the MTC.
I thought that the gift help ease the sadness that we were feeling and gave us one last good laugh!
Lastly, we piled in the car again and drove onto the MTC grounds. They make it quick and easy and relatively painless, except for Kendall who reopened a cut on this finger and bleed all over Dyllon's luggage. One last hug for everyone and a few pics and he was walking away and then we were driving away. It took us until right before the Freeway to stop the tears.
We are so grateful for Dyllon's decision to go on a mission. He will be a wonderful Missionary and the people of Knoxville Mission are lucky to get such a wonderful missionary. He is gonna be awesome!
A great start on a wonderful time in his life - make us prouder than we already are of a grandson who is worthy to represent the Lord in Tennessee!!! So glad that Mindy is better than over the weekend!!!

ReplyDeleteAnd now we are down to less than a year - a couple of transfers down, some new companions, many baptisms, new friends, lots of teaching, a chili cook-off, and putting up with humidity summer and winter. We are proud of this boy!!!
