There are times when a Mother feels like she has made so many mistakes in the rearing of her children. Often times you feel like you have messed your kids up and how they they act are a direct result of your sub-par parenting skills. Then you get a little boost in confidence when you get a letter like this:
This is how it was addressed:
From: Sister Cady
To the Mama of Elder Brown
Dear Sister Brown,
Hello from the MTC! My name is Sister Cady, and I am in Elder Brown's district! I wanted to write you a personal letter about your son! First off, he is always talking about how wonderful his mother is! From what I hear you are the most loving, kind and best mother out there! haha! Oops.....he told me you hate it when people write that....my bad :) Well let me tell you something about Elder Brown. Elder Brown has become this amazing teacher, and bold Missionary. One of the Elders had to go home. Not only did this shake the district, but Elder Brown took it pretty hard. He lost a brother. However, he didn't let it get him down for too long. This trial made him stronger. From that day he changed into a totally different Elder. He went from never commenting, to sharing his thoughts and feelings with everyone in the class. Oh ya, he also showed all of the other Elders how to part their hair and comb it right! He keeps them looking classy! Elder Brown has a gift of connecting with people on a different level than most. He is genuine in his desire and love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You know an Elder was raised by a wonderful woman and mother when he takes care of the Sisters! Elder Brown takes the Sisters trays after every meal, and makes sure that we are taken care of. He also teaches us all about Blues Clues, and we sing the mail song everyday! Thanks for raising such a fantastic Missionary! TN is sure lucky to get him! I am thankful for all that he taught me, and the example he is. Way to go! I know that he won't come back the same boy you sent out. If the Lord was able to change him this much in two weeks, in two years he will be legit. Just thought I would let you know how amazing he is doing here! Thanks Mama Brown!
Love Always Sister Lizzy Cady
That made your day, I bet! It is amazing how quickly Elders change from boys to men starting in the MTC. He truly will be a different person that the boy you dropped off at the MTC! It's nice that he is good to the sisters and being a gentleman - there are far too few of them now-a-days! Good job - Mom!
