Learning Patience.........

Today was a rather L O N G day of waiting.  You see today Dyllon told us that it was his P-Day, so I wanted to be online when he emailed us so I could maybe email back and forth for awhile.  So, that was my little mini plan.  Well, you know how it goes when you make plans.  On Dyllon's last P-Day the email that he sent came in at 8:04 am.  You think that you can count on a schedule when you have someone in the MTC. I thought that things ran like clock work there...... apparently not.  Anyway, I was hoping that he would be online around 8:00, I being a mom, missing her boy was determined to chat with him.  I sat at my computer until 12:54 until I heard from him.   You know that it makes for a long day when you are waiting???  I learn patience and I do not like it!  Who wants to learn this lesson?  Not me!  Well, it turns out that you all have had to learn patience too, because I have waited until 9:16 pm to post this.

Here is his first letter:

Hey Everyone! Today is my P-Day and i can get on an email. The MTC is a grind for sure, I have lots of pictures but i can't send them through email. It's locked on the MTC computers. So I'll send the SD card home in a letter. I feel so old now that i have been here a week and now that the new elders are here i feel like a seasoned Vet! i cant help but feel like I'm living an episode of prison break here at the MTC! You share a room with your companions, you have a set schedule you have to follow, the food isn't that great, and once a week new elders come in and replace old ones! it's kinda like prison! haha Just kidding for the most part I'm loving my time here and it's been an enjoyable experience!
A couple days ago i ran into Elder Langi, I have a picture with him and he remembered me like we had just been in high school yesterday! he gave me a big hug and said he was glad he had found someone he knew at the MTC! Turns out we have class in the same building he's just a floor down from me. So later when he's breaking records in the NFL i can say i knew that guy! I also ran into Elder Morril yesterday at gym and today at lunch. he's a newbie but adjusting to the MTC Well.
The Classes are a grind and i have class at least 6 hours a day. We are burning through preach my gospel at a scorching pace but it's good because i will be prepared when i get to the mission field. I love getting mail and it's my favorite part of the day when i get it, so tell everyone about dear elder and keep them coming. i don't really know what i want in this care package, maybe just things that remind me of home. i have about 10 minutes left on email so if you want to chat we can.
-Elder Brown
According to the last sentence we could chat.  I started shooting off emails................This was his reply:

Hey Mom!
What, that was it!  This was not working out as planned.  Ten minutes ticked by and I was bummed out.  This chat thing did not work at all!  Then out of the blue one more message:

I got my travel itinerary! I Leave the 21st. I'm going to the temple at 2:30 today, The peaches survived! Please Keep as many letters as you can coming! I love you guys and wish i could talk longer but i have to go!! Encourage everyone to use dearelder.com
Elder Brown
So, this was not like I planned, but it was still wonderful to hear from him.  It also looks like you all have an assignment.  Everyone needs to go on dearelder.com and write him a letter.  You just need to sign up, but it is free to send the email.  What they do is at noon everyday they deliver the letter to the MTC free of charge. (M-F)  So, what are you waiting for........go.....now.......

Wait..... This is the info that you need:

Elder Dyllon Brown
MTC Box # 203
Mission Code: TN-KNOX 0821
Estimated MTC Departure date: 8/21/12

Thanks!

  1. Did he mention if he got the cookies we sent or the jerky and letter I sent this week when you talked to him? Sounds like he is settling in well and learning a lot! That is good!!!
